CA Part-Time Associate Clinician
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor

NELA Therapy is seeking a motivated clinician who is eager to grow both clinically and professionally in a private practice setting. We are looking for a therapist who is passionate about working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and the LGBTQIA+ community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or a related field.

  • Registered AMFT or APCC with an active Associate Number from the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

  • At least 1,000 hours completed toward licensure.

  • Availability to work at least one evening per week and one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

  • Ability to maintain a caseload of at least 15 clients per week, with opportunities for more if desired.

  • Strong passion for working with couples.

  • Familiarity with DMH documentation, including treatment planning and discharge summaries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain Professional Standards – Uphold NELA Therapy’s policies, client rights, and ethical guidelines.

  2. Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning – Conduct evaluations, diagnoses, progress notes, and create client-centered treatment plans. Provide case management, consultation, and referrals.

  3. Provide Therapy Services – Offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy sessions.

  4. Adhere to Best Practices – Ensure services align with NELA Therapy policies and mental health standards.

  5. Comprehensive Client Evaluation – Assess client functioning in work, family, and daily life to identify needed support and treatment.

  6. Community Collaboration – Build and maintain partnerships with other providers.

  7. Electronic Health Records (EHR) Management – Maintain accurate, timely treatment documentation.

  8. Follow-Up & Aftercare Planning – Provide aftercare and discharge inactive clients promptly.

  9. Emergency Services – Respond to emergencies during and after work hours if needed.

  10. Professional Development & Team Collaboration – Attend meetings, supervision, and training to enhance skills.

  11. Ethical & Legal Compliance – Follow ethical, legal, and mandated reporting standards.

  12. Cultural Competency & Client Care – Practice cultural humility and prioritize quality care.

  13. Caseload Building – Grow and maintain a caseload through networking and referrals.
